ABLE Journey

The Journey of ABLE Charities

ABLE which is an acronym of Association For Blindness and Leprosy Eradication is now over 31 Years old. The dream of this Project originated in 1970 when the President Squadron Leader (Retd.) PREM Kumar Khullar was chief administrative officer at Indian Airforce Station Biddar, Karnataka, India.

The Dream originated from some charity organisations serving some poor Leprosy patients and needy blind people.

The project was launched in 1993 from village Mitrol then Faridabad District to serve the poor in the villages. The service which were extremely cheap and costing about INR ₹5 only and greatly appreciated by the villagers.

This room had no electricity and no water. We had to sit there and all the patients & President Squadron Leader (Retd.) PREM Kumar Khullar was all the time seating outside under the trees. it was a stay of 7.5 Years in such adverse circumstances. A village Bahrola, Palwal (India) donated us about over 6.5 acres of land and we started constructing a small building to serve the poor. At a very slow pace a building took shape and we had a whopping number of patients doing tremendous number of operation, all the services terrible at lost cost.

In the year 2000 we added up the education wing in slums of Faridabad and our policy was the “If children cannot go to the school; the school must go to the children”. From one school under the trees it grew 8 schools with nearly 600 children and all of them getting free nutritious meals in the afternoon at lunch time.

We also added up lots of medical services like E&T, Skin and Gynaecology Department.

Medical line was progressing and we added up free education program for the slum dwellers in Faridabad.

By the year 2008 we also started eye department which has progressed in a big way and we are doing 1300 to 1400 cataract surgeries yearly, People are coming in a big way to us to avail our services.

In the year 2021 we added dialysis department with help of rotary clubs. Today we have got the biggest Dialysis department in our town Palwal. Our charges are only USD $ 10 of each dialysis. It may be added that our consultation charges are only USD $ 75 Cents. Our dream of serving the community takes the first priority and we have added up an orphanage where we have got 60 small girls. New buildings is ready which can accommodate 200 new girls.
